Svetlana Latysh is an independent educational consultant helping students in the Greater Seattle area to navigate the college admission process.
Svetlana is a first-generation immigrant that arrived to the U.S. 20 years ago. While raising her older child, she became well aware of the opaque and confusing system of college admission. She realized how non-intuitive some of the aspects of the process are and what limited help students and parents can expect from high school counselors. She took on the challenge of researching the field and educating herself, so that by the time her son was applying to colleges she was confident she could advise him and his friends.
Svetlana's background of teaching and working as an admission officer at a major university in Russia and her first-hand experience inspired her to complete the Fundamentals of College Admission Counseling program by UCLA and enter the field of educational consulting.
Svetlana is particularly attuned to the anxieties of immigrant parents that bring different higher education experience and expectations from overseas and try to understand how the U.S. college system functions.
